What do you think of the newest addition to my Guilty Pleasure's Name List (-Boy Name-)?

August. (Yes, like the month.) I used to hate it, but it's been growing on me lately for some reason! I would never use it, but I'm thinking it's worthy of my Guilty Pleasure's List. :) So, what do you think of it? Thanks! :) kelz ~ August may be unisex, but it's not just a girls name. It was and is originally a boys name. http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_August.html edit: **may be considered unisex** Oh, and thanks, "Mimi"! ;)

  1. I find it to be too feminine...
  2. It's different. Don't know if i would use it as a boy's name though.
  3. I love August - but for a girl! I know, I know - it's really a boys name, but I don't see it on a boy at all! I cannot imagine for the life of me meeting a grown adult man called August! August is a hot, summer month spent at the beach - it has to be better on a girl! Sorry, not a fan for a boy! But I will definitely give you it as a guilty pleasure! hehe :-)
  4. You don't hear that name that much anymore, but all the old names are coming back. I like the name. And there was a movie called August Rush and that was the boy's name in part of the film.
  5. I have to admit that this name has been growing on me lately, too. I once knew a little girl named August, and people called her Augie (gag.) I do like it for a boy, though. Nothing that I would choose personally, but I think it's nice.
  6. I like August but I prefer Augusten. (As in Augusten Burroughs the author).
  7. Whats wrong with people now days. August is a girls name and will forever be a girls name.
  8. I like the name for both genders. It sounds like a very soft, fun name :D
  9. It's a great (guilty pleasure) name. I think the meaning is great (not the month, but the adjective). I don't think it's girly at all. Maybe because I'm Scandinavian and actually know of some people with that name, notably the writer August Strindberg. And what's Augusta if not a female version of August, huh? :D I wouldn't use it either, but it's a fun name.
  10. I knew a boy named August and everyone called him Augy. It's cute when their little but what about when he's 15. I don't think he'll like the name too much.
  11. Crazy, I was thinking the SAME THING! What do you think of these middle names: August Sumner August April August Mae Adorable boy's names, right?
  12. Loooooooooooooooove. I honestly cannot put it any other way that's more mature than that... It's probably my favorite boy name. Ever. You don't know how many times people have said to me, "Oh, but it sounds like such a girl's name..." And you know, I understand why. Every other month is feminine, right? April, May, June. Then again, why can't have the boys have one? Just one? I think they deserve at least August, while all of the others can be used on females. Don't my rant. August is handsome, soft and gentle yet possessing an edgy masculinity, not feminine in the least (in my opinion). Plus, how feminine is the nickname Gus? I'd say not a lot.
  13. It's an awesome name! I'm still not sure whether I like it for a boy or girl though...lol!
  14. It's quite pretentious (like someone I know with this name, so I might be biased!) I neither love it nor hate it:)
  15. I love it. It's the only month name i like for a boy. I've always loved the name August. Great name! Lisa Michelle x x lol x x
  16. Brilliant! I feel the same way about August. Very attractive, but probably not usable... personally, I would LOVE to see it used in reality, but I don't think I could do it myself... It's a lot of pressure to consider month names, because I don't know if I would think naming a baby born in August "August", or a baby born in April "April", etc, but I also don't know if it would fit without that concept... So, makes for a brilliant guilty pleasure name, though at the same time, it's not the typical "slightly embarrassing" guilty pleasure names that I see. I think it's genuinely attractive. -- Amy
  17. August is a nice name :) I never liked it much either, but the more I see it, the more I realize there are names out there that are way worse ... so, it's not so bad :) lol
