  1. The staple foods that I always buy at the grocery store: -low fat yogurt (under 100 cals!) -bag of baby carrots -big red apples -a cantaloupe if it's $2.50 or under for each -low-sugar oatmeal packets (under 130 cals for each packet) -pretzels (my junk food--but not that junky!) -progresso or campbell's chunky soups if they're on sale (low sodium if possible--and always broth never cream) -egg beater's eggwhites (scramble in skillet, very low cal) -sugar-free drink mixes (wyler's lite is great- peach or raspberry tea is awesome!) -lettuce (either iceburg, romaine, salad ready in a bag, or even bagged baby spinach) -low fat english muffins (below 100 cals for each) -deli turkey meat- half pound is great for simple turkey-toasted english muffin-mustard sandwich -canned tuna -onions, cucumbers -raisins (good for salads) -boneless chicken breast (just throw on a skillet with some onions or in the oven) -condiments: bbq sauce, fat free italian dressing, low fat raspberry vinaigrette dressing, seasoned salt or a "no salt" seasoning, spicy mustard, chili-soy sauce, fat free ranch dressing -brown rice individual packets (throw in boiling water and drain, easy) -raw almonds (I always get unsalted roasted--even though roasted isn't as good as plain raw--but so good to snack on and salads!) -sugar free jello- (20-40 cals for the whole box) -low sodium tomato soup -frozen veggies like broccoli/cauliflower not all the time but every once in a while: -skim milk -any kind of cereal--I usually try to get cheerios or raisin bran because they don't taste amazing and I won't snack on them. I just add a bunch of fake sugar packets...If I get sugary cereals I can the whole box in one sitting! but sooo good -low fat string cheese -strawberries if on sale (below $2) sorry I got carried away... I LOVE grocery shopping for healthy stuff and actually get excited. I'm a nerd lol.. Some tips- make a salad with the greens, cukes, almonds, raisins, and I also buy banana peppers--add some fun to it. or even chopped dill pickles--into a big bowl that I can serve myself out of all day when I'm hungry or just bored. Tunafish sandwiches. even lite mayo is a little fattening--use mustard instead-- mix drained tuna, mustard, chopped onions, celery, relish, chopped dill pickle, any or all, add salt and pepper, put on toasted english muffin--wa la!
